Sendai Systems announces first web-based groupware product for WebObjects and Mac OS X Server at MacWorld Expo New York.

Switzerland, July 19, 2000. Sendai Systems, based in Bern, Switzerland (http://www.studiosendai.com/) today announced that its browser-based groupware product "GroupVille" is available for public evaluation. A fully functional release candidate (with security checks implemented) can be downloaded for free evaluation at http://www.groupville.com/.

GroupVille will be shown this week at Macworld New York at the stand of Frontbase.com, booth 1631.

GroupVille's most innovative feature is a powerful project management architecture based on customizable "components". Components are pre-built rectangular screen elements. Users can pick and arrange any number of such components to build Internet pages and retrieve or share information with other users.

Six of components come free with GroupVille; most notably the "Document" component, allowing users to publish and collaborate on files in dispersed work teams. Other components allow for the storage of contacts, media files, discussions and access to major database servers. The software also includes a shared calendar/scheduler and an internal messaging system. For basic needs, a "lite" version of GroupVille with only two components is available at a lower price.

GroupVille's modular component structure will allow both users and independent developers to write and share their own license-free components in the future.

GroupVille is built on Apple WebObjects, the leading web application server on the market. GroupVille servers are accessible with any recent web browser. No client-side Java is required. GroupVille will be available in Summer 2000 in localized versions for Mac OS X Server with Apple WebObjects, and later for Windows NT/2000 with Apple WebObjects.

Introductory pricing for GroupVille bundled with the SQL92-compliant FrontBase database server from FrontBase starts at under $1,000 for a complete client/server package with a 10 user license.
